Who we are
Downer Basketball Academy ("we", "us") runs this website at https://www.greggdownerbasketball.com. The site is built and operated for us by Always Competing Sports LLC, doing business as Mainline Web Design, which handles information only on our instructions and only to run this site. Questions about this policy go to aceshoops@gmail.com.
What we collect
When you register a player for a clinic, support the Shoot-a-Thon, or contact us, you give us the information needed to run the program: names, email addresses, phone numbers, and the details asked for on the form.
Clinic registration asks for the player's name, date of birth, and grade, the parent or guardian's name, email, and phone, an emergency contact, an optional authorized pickup contact, and any health information you choose to share, such as allergies, medications, or medical conditions. It also records the name you type to sign the waiver, the date and time, and the internet address your device used at that moment, so we have a record that the waiver was agreed to. All of this is entered by a parent, guardian, coach, or team manager. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information to us directly, email aceshoops@gmail.com and we will delete it.
When you pay online, your card details go directly to Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number. We keep a record of the payment itself: who paid, what for, how much, and when.
When you donate or pledge through the Shoot-a-Thon, we keep your name, email, the amount or per-throw pledge, any message you leave, and the internet address your device used, so we can thank you, bill a pledge after the event, and keep our records straight. Card details go directly to Stripe.
Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs: the address your device connects from, the browser you use, and the pages you open. We use these to keep the site running and secure.
How we use it
- To run the program: clinic sessions, check-in and attendance, the Shoot-a-Thon, and the communication that goes with them.
- To collect and record clinic fees, donations, and pledges.
- To email you about what you registered for or supported, including receipts, session reminders, schedule changes, weather or gym cancellations, refund notices, and pledge confirmations. These emails go out through SendGrid.
- To answer questions you send us.
- To keep the site secure and working.
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use it to target ads.
What is public on the site
Clinic dates, camp dates, and the Shoot-a-Thon totals and goals are public, because that is what the site is for. Coach contact details appear only where the organization has chosen to list them.
The Shoot-a-Thon page shows the names of the players and teams taking part, how much each has raised, and a leaderboard of top fundraisers. It also shows a recent supporters list with each donor's first name and last initial, who they backed, and any message they left, unless the donor chose to give anonymously. Player names are entered by the organization, not collected through the site. If you want a player's or donor's name removed from these pages, email aceshoops@gmail.com and we will remove it.
Clinics and camps are public, and we publish camp and team photos on the site. We use photos or video of a clinic player for promotion only if a parent or guardian checked the optional photo consent box at registration. A parent or guardian who does not want a player shown can tell us in writing and we will take the photo down.
Cookies and analytics
The site uses a small amount of browser storage to keep an administrator or coach signed in to the admin and check-in pages for the length of their browser session, to save a registration form draft while you fill it in, and to remember the choices you set, such as turning analytics off. Without it, the admin sign-in does not work.
Stripe sets its own cookies during checkout to prevent fraud. Those are governed by Stripe's privacy policy.
We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people use. It sets cookies that tell Google Analytics a browser has been here before. We have advertising features and ads personalization turned off, so the data is used for measurement only. You can block these cookies in your browser and the site will still work, or turn analytics off for your device with the button on our policies page.
We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
Who handles data for us
These companies process information on our behalf, each under its own privacy policy: Vercel (hosting), Google Firebase (database and sign-in), Stripe (payments), SendGrid (email), and Mainline Web Design (building and operating the site). Clinic payments and Shoot-a-Thon gifts are collected by Always Competing Sports LLC on behalf of the clinic's organizing booster club and the Lower Merion Boys Basketball team and remitted to them. We may also share information when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Season records such as clinic rosters, attendance, and Shoot-a-Thon totals are kept as the organization's history. Registration contact details are kept while a player is active and for two seasons afterward so returning families do not have to start over. Payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.
Your choices
- Email aceshoops@gmail.com to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you or your player. We answer within 30 days.
- The emails we send are about your own registration, donation, or pledge. We do not send marketing email from this site. If you do not want to hear from us about a program you joined, email us and we will take you off the list for it.
- California residents can ask what personal information we hold, ask for it to be deleted, and will not be treated differently for asking.
Security
The site runs over HTTPS. Registration, donation, and payment records are available only to the organization's officials and coaches and to Mainline Web Design as our vendor, each through their own passcode. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise that, but we take reasonable care.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is posted here with a new date at the top.
